DLBP MEETS WITH KEY STAKEHOLDERS IN RELATION TO UPCOMING REZONING PROJECT

The DLBP US team recently met with City of Cumming planning staff, the Planning Commission, and City Council members in relation to a rezoning project in the area.

A core phase in the preparation of any rezoning application, these meetings provide a valuable opportunity to present indicative proposals to staff and elected officials and receive their advice and feedback.  Following this, and subject to the staff and official’s responses, DLBP then works closely with our clients and consultant teams to refine proposals and address comments received.

In this case, we identified a difference in opinion between certain key stakeholders – some were concerned the proposed rezoning would be inconsistent with the Future Land Use Designation, whilst others were supportive of it as a way of helping to meet a need for housing in the City of Cumming.  This demonstrated the importance of engaging with various jurisdictions from the outset to identify risks for to our clients’ proposals and take the steps necessary to address these.

DLBP works hard to establish and maintain close relationships with planning staff, elected officials and the community throughout the entire rezoning process, ensuring continued and meaningful engagement that meets both the needs and values of the local jurisdictions and community, and our clients.
